Axe the Pyramid - In with MLM
When word finally got around that I was doing Network Marketing, some of my friends knew I had slipped a cog. One of them got brave enough to tell me “Oh, so you are in one of those pyramid scams?” Oh, No! I told this person pyramids were illegal and so I explained to him.
Pyramid’s are nothing but a money game. You invest money and convince other people to sign up under you and pay money. Then at a certain point, the money starts rolling in and you become rich, right? No! Not quite. If the law doesn’t catch you first you may make a few dollars, but in actuality it is the guys on top that are making the money. Pyramid’s are strictly a money game. Normally, there is not product involved, just money changing hands. This game is based on taking advantage of people. For a person to make money in a pyramid, someone has to lose. Pyramids today may have a product, but it is only to cover up the money game.
MLM SELLS PRODUCTS
Most businesses in the Network Marketing world are based on providing people with real legitimate products they need. People want value for their dollar. They want something to show for giving you their money. In Network Marketing the result of the program is usually the dedication and efforts in building an organization that sells real products. Each person can multiply their efforts. With skills and talents they can not only help themselves, but others to become successful. It is not about taking advantage of someone. It is about people using sophisticated marketing tools. Many businesses use Internet, and conference calling to get their products to the people.
Many of the better companies have simple, strait forward programs, if followed, are designed to give you excellent profit. A good company has to have a system that cam be duplicated. Relationships within the organization are a must. You need team work. By helping each other the whole team can leverage themselves into making a success. I read a statement from an article that was powerful. J. Paul Getty, who created on of the world’s greatest fortunes, said “I would rather make 1 percent on the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent on my own efforts.” This is Network Marketing personified.
TEAM WORK AND FRIENDS FOR LIFE
With a company which has the 5 Pillars you can create for yourself and your organization serious recurring income. With Marketing you do not have to have any degrees or special skills. But you do need to be a disciplined, committed ,dedicated person who is willing to spend about ten hours a week in the requirements of your company. Usually, you work from home and can be rewarded without the costly overhead of established businesses who hire many employees. With guidance from your CPA you can write off many deductions on your taxes.
Today most Network Marketing businesses are global and from that standpoint alone you can make friends and close associates with people from many countries. The Internet is a people business of relationships, not like the Pyramids who simply wanted your money and they were gone. We who are involved in this industry love what we do and when convention time comes we can stop for a few days and enjoy the camaraderie of rubbing elbows with our fellow team mates whom we have never met face to face.
“BUILD IT ONCE, BUILD IT BIG FOR YOUR CHILDRENS CHILDREN” With a good company not only will you gain lifelong friends, but your lifestyle will change which will enable you to have fun and travel from the extra income you will receive.
May Success be yours,

Color me RED
You have entered the Network Marketing World and joined a company you have always wanted to work with. You have learned some of the skills needed to make a success in your new business. You get a lead. You go out to meet this person. You walk into their home or office and the hair on the back of your neck stands up. You do not feel welcome, you do not feel you even want to be there. Before you leave this person has about convinced you to their deal.
CHARACTERISTICS OF "REDS"
Reds are the most difficult to deal with if you cannot keep in step with them. They are controllers, difficult to coach, bossy, impatient, but confident to the point of egotism. Our world could not exist with out Reds. They are the CEO's, the money mungers (they want all of it), they are driven and love control. They are proud of their achievements and let you know often. When they have a plan there is nothing that will detour them. They do not need or care if they have friends or as a matter of fact if you are their friend. These people are great in business and are born sales people, however they are not team players. They work better alone. They love expensive designer clothes and think everyone should dress like them.
HOW TO DEAL WITH A RED
They are self starters, dynamic, and well connected (referrals), organized, driven, and confident. If you have them in your business you need to know how to stroke their ego, challenge them. They love to be motivated at the highest level. To have these people on your team you need to be prepared to play on their level and if you cannot turn into a Chameleon and think like a red, this will be your biggest challenge. They will leave dead bodies all over the place unless you have control at all times.
CONCLUSION OF REDS
To have this "get out of my way" person on your team can be most profitable for not only them but your company. Again, be the Boss always on an on-going basis. Give them a plan built especially for Reds like the stair-step break away Compensation plan, then leave them alone. Sometimes a Red will think they have a more efficent way of doing a task and they will tell you so. But, if your plans are proven, and are replicable, let them know in no uncertain terms there will be no changing. You are the boss. This is the time you want to stoke their ego. To keep Reds working you will need to do this. Keep ahead of them in their manipulative ways.
There will be many times when you ask yourself why you let a RED on your team. Just remember, if you are prepared with a plan of action just for them, and keep them motivated, you will have no problems. If not, you will be the one who will be turning in your resignation! So, think intelligently before hiring a Red!

Color me GREEN
In the network Marketing world the most critical aspect of business is being able to communicate with ease. Having some knowledge about the person you are going to talk to before you say one word is a skill. It's about being able to do a “cold call” and within the first couple sentences understand the personality of the person you are talking to. It gives you an advantage. In the end it could profit you a great recruit. By knowing the Colors to Success you have a broader idea of how they think.
GREEN TRAITS
Lets say you are bouncy “Blue” and you have approached a person who is a prospective recruit. You walk into their office and everything is neat as a pin, orderly and tidy. The person is dressed in a suit and gives you just a hint of smile. Immediately you turn into a chameleon. You are sure you have a Green personality, but they could also be Red. You introduce yourself and listen for their reply. They are Indirect/Self Contained. Green. You put on your Green hat and after small talk start giving him facts, and figures. They want proof and logic (as they see it). They are analytical. They are almost paranoid about analyzing everything again and again. While they are busy analyzing you have signed up four Blues who see the big picture quickly. Greens are soft spoken, depressive, moody, critical, have low self esteem, skeptical and rigid. They will make lists of lists. Organization is a specialty. Graphs and charts are a way of life for them. They love to solve problems. They are motivated by high standards. Our world would be in a mess without the genuine Green. They are attentive listeners.
WHY GREEN IN YOUR ORGANIZATION
They will keep things together. Your organization has a problem let the Green know about it. They can tell you how much profit you made last month or they know you need 5 more recruits to make a certain quota this month. Don’t try to sell them on anything. They will make up their mind in their own sweet time. You will need to stay connected with the Green and keep a fire lit under them. If you can do that you will have a well functioning organization. If they like you as a boss they will never quit. This is a sign of failure. They are the solution solvers.

Color me YELLOW
Everyone in the world is a predominate “color”. This is especially important in Network Marketing. To have an edge in this growing Industry you need to be able to judge quickly the person you are communicating with. You need to be able to walk into a crowded room and distinguish personalities by their manner and dress. You need to be able to talk to someone on a “cold” call and within the first or second sentence know the persons personality. Remember the old Sanguine , Choleric, Melancholy and Phlegmatic? Today we have Blue, Red, Green and Yellow.
TRAITS OF A YELLOW
They are the nurturer’s, nurses, UN workers, teacher, the peace makers not only at home but in the business sector. They are calm. They like balance, no sudden changes, but if there is a change give them time to adjust. When communicating with a yellow down. Talk slow. They are soft spoken, very contemplative people. They are romantics. Some times shy and over sensitive. You can spot them across a room because their hair do is not saloon done, and they dress casual, in subdued colors, nothing loud or brashy, but comfortable clothing. No frills.
You need to give yellows time to reflect. They love team work and relationships. Family is at the top of the list. Want to get their attention, talk family. You might have to become a chameleon if you are a green, but you can do it. They avoid conflict if they can. They are good listeners and make understanding councilors. They don’t like pushy sales people.
YELLOWS ARE VALUABLE
They make great administrators. They move steady with confidence. They follow through with a project as long as it involves team work and you let them go at their pace. If they believe in what they are doing they will build big. But they will not be able to work a stair-step break away compensation plan. They will crumble with the demand of this plan. They have to have a plan where you can put people under people. Give them a plan that pays of to infinity. Never talk money to a yellow, talk about family. Be interested in them. Praise them often for the good they are doing. Give them lots of encouragement and watch them work!

Color me BLUE
BLUE (SANGUINE)
One of the most important things to do in Network Marketing is communications thru talking on the phone. We find it very easy to avoid this job. We use every excuse known to man. In the process we loose recruits. There must be a way around this uncomfortable situation.
KNOWING THE DIFFERENT PERSONALITYS
Our world is made up of 4 different personalities. Everyone can fit into one of the following;
Blue 15% of population (Sanguine) they are Open/Direct
Red 15% of population (Choleric) they are Self contained/Direct
Yellow 35% of population (Phlegmatic) they are Open/Indirect
Green 35% of population (Melancholy) they are Self contained/Indirect
Let’s look at the BLUE. They are talkative, story tellers, humorous, attractive, friendly, curious, creative, cheerful, spontaneous, see the Big Picture, don’t hold drudges, sincere, optimistic, persuasive and life of the party.
If you walk into a room full of people, you can spot the Blue right away. They love flamboyant colors, Hawaiian Shirts and they dress casual. They will always have a crowd around them, having center stage. They always want to have fun.
At work, they make great sales persons. They are enthusiastic and charm others. They want to be popular. They like Network Marketing and enjoy team work. Their mind is always working at new activities.
The Down side of a Blue. They do not like pushy sales people. They tend to exaggerate, dwell on trivia, loud, naïve, won’t listen, waste time, forget obligations, and to look at their office would scare the mice away! They are so disorganized. But don’t you dare mess with their “piles” of papers, because they know where everything is. They are egotistical, crave acceptance and sloppy and etc.
BLUES - GREAT TEAM SPIRIT
Thank goodness we do not have a majority of Blues! We would never be organized. We would never get anything done that was mundane. But they make great team members. You do have to keep them motivated. Always, give them something to work toward, a goal, a give-a-way, the next position in your company or whatever. They will set the goal in front of them and go for it…..as long as it is fun! Don’t ever forget the fun. Give them assurance that they are needed and you appreciate them constantly.
LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE APPRECIATED
Personally, I would take all the Blues I could get for my team. They keep things lively and moving forward when they know someone appreciates them. Don’t ever go Green on them, because they will walk out the back door. They do not like tedious reading or paper work. Keep Reds away from them because they will be gone yesterday. They do not like the hard boss attitude of the Red. Yellows work well with Blues.
Know your colors because they will bring you success. Know your Blue personality and your organization will flourish. Know the hot buttons of a Blue and they will thrive. Don’t be afraid to have many of them on your Network Marketing Team.
Well known Blues

Motto: FUN, FUN, FUN

Weakness: Talk too much, Poor savers, Poor follow-ups, Unorganized, Exaggerate

What's your Attitude?
There are a number of aspects that can cause failure in our Network Marketing journey. Every skill and process is important to create a strong organization. There is one that can cause a breech in every process within your company. ATTITUDE. It’s like a door which swings both ways. One takes you forward and leads you to success. The other to stress, and eventually failure. Attitude is like a glue, it holds every thing together.
POSITIVE ATTITUDE
There is positive and negative attitude. Positive attitude can help us attract people to our organization. Negativism will drive them from us.
Positive attitude affects our Body, Mind and Soul. We need it every day.
Positive attitude is the main ingredient in salesmanship. It does not matter what you are selling, whether it is merchandise, products, services or any sort of commodity. If we have a negative attitude, you can’t sell squat!
A salesman makes sure his attitude is honed before he approaches a prospective customer. First he needs to know he would buy the item first, through his own mental attitude.
Mental attitude controls the space around us. It controls who our friends are. It contributes to the prosperity we will get.
YOUR ORGANIZATION WILL PROSPER WITH GOOD ATTITUDE
With proper attitude we will “Love ourselves”. When we can look in the mirror and say to ourselves…..”I Love me, Susie or Jane or Bill or John”….whatever your name is. You know why we can say these words? They are not selfish words, they are words that prove we have matured and realize we are ‘not junk’. We have value. Each one of us would not be here right now. Accidents don’t happen. You are in the right place at the right time. Remember one very important word of advice. I got this from my mentor and it has made a difference in my life. “It’s not my business what other people think of me….The only thing that is my business is what I think of me.” When you can love yourself for who you are, for the good person you are, for the values you have, only then can you reach out and help someone else.
You have a choice. Take possession of your attitude. From the time your eyes open in the morning replace any negative thought with a counter thought of something positive. The more you do this little exercise the more your sub conscious mind will adapt to the positive. You attitude about everything will begin to change in your Network Marketing adventure! Try it, you might like it!

Compensation Plans - It's your Money
Before choosing a Network Marketing Business you will want to know the compensation plan. You want the right plan, one that will generate a good income in reasonable time, one that you can build an organization as wide and deep as you want to go. You want a plan simple enough to explain to possible recruits. You want it to be replicable making it easy for your recruits to duplicate what you have done, thus setting up a great down line which will bring in reoccurring income not only for you but them also. Build it once, Build it Big, Build it for your children’s children. Never forget you want a company that also builds from great relationships, creating team work within your organization which will benefit everyone. So what are the major compensation plans and their differences? There is the Stairstep, Breakaway, Unilevel, Binary, and Matrix.
1. Stairstep: This plan is the oldest and is very simple. Each promotion you meet will advance you within a set structure made up of stair steps. Usually, the distributor works on volume, and the sponsor will receive a percentage of that volume. This compensation plan is sometimes combined with other plans.
2. Breakaway: Usually this plan is combined with the Stairstep plan. If you don’t mind building a team or company again and again, this plan could be a challenge. If you do not understand where the breakage is; at what level it is, or what volume amount it is, you can wake up one morning and find your commission check cut in half, making this plan very unpopular. You have to be alert where your down line is at all time. If you have a great distributor reaching whatever monetary limit or recruiting level close to the breakaway point, it drives the sponsor into discouraging any downline person from reaching the point of the breakaway.
3. Unilevel: You can build this plan as wide as you want on your first level. However building to wide can cause you to lose tract of your distributor. This plan will give you a percentage of the volume that is sold, but it leaves little to promotion or rank for yourself. The advantage of this plan is it is easy to explain to a potential distributor. Sometimes this plan can limit your depth of levels and in the payment plan which would discourage a deep sale organization.
4. Binary: Binary plans are limited to two on your first level. Everyone else goes below in depth. The drawback with this plan is you may get a recruit who works hard and you see the potential of a great team member, but because you have your first level filled, you have to place the hard working advancing recruit at a level which will give you little benefit. Sometimes the Binary is also combined with the Matrix in a so called 5 x 9 or 4 X 7 or 6 x 9. The first number being your first level, and the second the depth. This is the size of your organization, period. There is little chance of a great reoccurring income with this plan.
5. Matrix: This plan is sometimes called the “Game” plan. It is the most unsuccessful of all the plans because you are placed wherever the sponsor or the company wants to place you. The only way this plan works well is the products are used mainly by the distributors rather then to customers. Virtually there is not productivity.
There is a new Compensation plan on the horizon that has been out for a short time called the “Australian Two-up”. This plan is structured so that the first two people you recruit are given to your sponsor, everyone else you recruit is yours. Some have been known to keep the strong prospects for themselves giving the weaker recruits to the sponsor. Thus some companies have come up with something called an over-ride, or offering a bonus for the people you give up. Good luck if you can keep up with this one!
DO YOUR HOMEWORK
I have touched briefly on the basic compensation plans in the Network Marketing Industry. Some combinations have been successful. It goes without saying most of us would like a plan which works with our personality; one which will bring us a good reoccurring income without having to rebuild because of breakage, heavy front-end loading (high upfront money’s paid out to join), spillovers which usually do not come, or passing great recruits on to someone else.
There are some great Network Marketing companies with beneficial compensation plans. These companies know their distributors are their biggest asset, so they give them every advantage possible. They have small joining fees, have a lead product, pay out on volume as well as on level of GBP giving each person that works for them a fair and respectful piece of the pie. These companies are a joy to work for. So, before you sign on the dotted line, make sure of the compensation plan. If you don’t understand it, get in contact with us, or someone who can explain it to you. Do your homework first. Just because you like a product doesn’t mean you have to work for the company under a bad compensation plan. Buy the product, but join a Network Marketing company which will keep you in mind at all times during you climb to be successful. We can help you. Our team is working to make Network Marketing the best it can be.

How to Retain Recruits in Network Marketing
Communication, Duplication and Selective Recruiting are three of the major keys to having a successful business.
SECLECTIVE RECRUITS
Within your organization should be a format in selecting a prospective recruit. Not everyone is a prime candidate for Network Marketing. Fifty percent of the population are not people who should be in business, and they don’t even know it. Be selective. Even though you have been sought out, make sure the person has a burning desire to work MLM. Make sure they have specific goals and are teachable. Basic internet skills should be known. Do they see the “Big picture?” When you talk to them one on one, do you detect they are receptive? Listen to your prospect and their desires and goals. Do they fit your organization? Be selective. Don’t waste time with those who do not fit your criteria.
Remember, those you end up with through this selection will be worth their weight in Gold and your organization will be stronger for it.
COMMUNICATIONS
You are setting an example. The information you give to your new recruit should be the same that was given to you. The first 48 hours is crucial for the new person. Be prepared to spend time lining up for them their first tasks. Give them deadlines. Then follow up. You want achievers, leaders and doers. Teach them the same skills to network marketing you were taught. Let them know this is not a selling business, but a people business.
Be honest and up front at all times. Be sensitive to their needs. A new recruit wants you to listen. But make sure they understand there are requirements and skills they need to learn. Make them feel valuable when they have completed a task or skill. Make them feel a part of your organization.
Conference calls, team calls, e-mails, as well as calls with new tips should keep them connected. You cannot communicate to much in the beginning.
DUPLICATION
Duplication of everything you do is a must for the new recruit. They need to know each step to take. Make sure they understand that going out and making 1000 phone calls a day, or meeting a $2500 per month quota is not duplication. Your program needs to work for the average person who may be spending only 5-10 hours a week in MLM. You want a company that has a compensation plan that does not take away from your recruit, but gives them the incentive to work, one that gives them every advantage. You need to let your new recruit know duplication does not come from bombarding your friends, relatives and neighbors and trying to sell them on their deal.
EDUCATION
A Doctor does not get his license overnight. Nor does a lawyer. Network Marketing is no different. You as a mentor need to know every aspect of your company. Your recruit should be willing to learn about a 5 Pillar Company, learn the difference between Policy’s and Procedures. Compensation plans should also be learned. Learn the Colors to Success, how to communicate with people easily.
Do you want your business to flourish? Do you want to keep rebuilding your organization again and again because you failed to build it right the first time? Communication, duplication and being selective with recruits is the only way to “BUILD IT ONCE, BUILD IT BIG, BUILD IT FOR YOUR CHILDREN’S CHILDREN.”

MLM Meets Commitment
You have the right company. You have a wonderful feeling of euphoria and exhilaration.
Your sponsor has given you all the tools you need to begin your Network Marketing business. Two days later you have no recruits and you are ready to quit. Quit?…..
STEP BACK
You have just experienced the wonderful world of Network Marketing “hype”. The only reason you are reading this article is to find the key to making things happen. You want to know the answers? You thought it was going to be a piece of cake. MLM is not a cake walk. Did your family physician become a licensed doctor overnight? Network Marketing is work and it takes time, commitment to learning skills. Can I give you some advice which has proven the best for me? O.K. Set down, take a deep breath and think about the advise your sponsor has given you. I am going to assume you have a 5 Pillar company with a great compensation plan. Don’t give up so easily! Now, pick up a pen and a good sheet of paper and write the following
“I will commit at least one hour or more per day in my MLM business for 12 months” Signed: _________________ Date_________________
Place this sheet of paper where you can view it every day. This is your first big step in becoming a committed leader
LEADERS DON’T QUIT
The word “quit” is not in their vocabulary. Remember, there is more to the MLM industry then hype. You need to be committed. You need SKILLS, like knowing how to talk on the phone, knowing your product, know the Colors to Success; you need the skill of listening. Believe it or not, commitment is a skill. Commit yourself to learning everything you can about your company. Read. Leaders are readers. You can only give information that you already know.
True leaders commit to forming relationships in their organization. The leaders treat people with respect. True leaders pick a few top people in their organization and devote extra time leading them to becoming leaders. A great leader will compliment their people. It will bring out the best in them. Leaders commit to giving of themselves…it will return to you many times. Be humble. Leaders take responsibility seriously. Leaders see the Big Picture. Leaders Listen more then they talk.
CONCLUSION……
The choice is yours. With self discipline, and a true commitment, you can change your future in Network Marketing. Again, the choice is yours. Learn the skills once, then put them to the test. I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. I was confused when I first started in MLM, but I joined a mentoring group that has taught me how to pick a company, how to learn the valuable skills needed to be successful. It has helped me understand the number one step in having a successful organization. Learning about the Policies and Procedures and the best Compensation plan for me. Once you have this in tow you can step up to the plate and begin committing your life to becoming a great leader. You too will begin to experience a future most people only dream of. See you at the top!

Seven Core Values to Success
To be successful in Network Marketing you must be a leader who gives to your organization skills and tips which are replicable. Every aspect of your company must be something a distributor can duplicate easily. Give them the essential core or “Key” values to make their organization grow. If you are a new-bee and have no idea about building an organization, you need to become familiar with the following steps. They will definitely save you years of failure and frustration.
1. COMPANY MUST HAVE FIVE PILLARS.
A. COMPANY MANAGEMENT - These are people who have been at the bottom. They have
started where you are right now. They remember what it was to struggle and they now treat their
distributors with integrity and respect. They want a solid foundation for them, because without
the distributors, the company will be nothing.
B. TIMING IN THE INDUSTRY - You must do research on the company you have chosen. Are
they reputable? Are they over three years old? If not give them time to make adjustments before
you join. Make sure the lead product is one everyone wants and along with other products which
compliment the lead product.
C. FLAGSHIP PRODUCT - The product cannot be over priced and must be consumable. You
want an outstanding “Purple Cow” product which stands out and people will keep re-ordering.
D. COMPENSATION PLANS - Read, Read, Read! If you don’t understand the compensation
plan, get help from someone you can trust, because your new company may not have a plan
suited to you. There are 5 basic comp plans, Binary, Unilevel, Matrix, Stairstep and Breakaway.
If you do not know the strong and weak points of these you may wake up one morning with a
reduced monthly check of $1500 instead of $3000.
E. COMPANY HAS A REPICABLE SYSTEM WITH UPLINE TRAINING AND SUPPORT -
You need an action plan. You need today’s plan, not a plan from 10 years ago. You need to
learn Network Marketing is not a sales business, it is a People Business. People join people not a
business. You need to learn the proper skills which will give you a solid base in your
organization. You want a recurring income which will pay your children’s children.
2. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO COMPARE AND EVALUATE COMPENSATION PLANS..
To put it simply, know your plan and how you get paid. Study all plans. Know the difference.
3. MUST UNDERSTAND THE COLORS TO SUCCESS - Red - Yellow - Blue - Green.
The knowledge you receive knowing your colors is one of the essentials to the success of your business. You cannot communicate with a Blue the same way you talk to a Red. The Blue will be gone. The same for the Green versus the Yellow. Greens want all the data. Yellows want to work with a team.
4. BUILD THE LIST
Forget friends and family. Forget the 100 No’s that are supposed produce one Yes! If a couple No’s hurt, why waste your time with 98 more No’s! Learn to advertise so customers or potential distributors seek your company.
5. BE A COLOR PROFILER
Be able to know a personality color by observing a persons clothes, by the way they order food at a restaurant, by the way they decorate their office. The quicker you can do this the quicker you can communicate with them and the way they receive information.
6. YOU MUST HAVE A HUGE WHY
If your WHY isn’t big enough, the first bump in the road is going to throw you for a loop. Ask yourself why you want to go into Network Marketing. Why do you want this business? Are you focused on your why? Is you Why so big it seems overwhelming? Do you see your dream so clearly there is nothing going to stop you from your goal? Does it scare you? Good! Your Why must be BIG.
7. YOU MUST BE A LEADER
Again, people do not join businesses, they join people. You have to know your target market to have a successful and strong Network Marketing Business. You need daily self talk, time each day to develop your skill thru C.D’s, books and research. NEVER STOP LEARNING! To be a great leader you must be teachable, have integrity, and learn how to build successful relationships. You must be able to follow instructions.
Randy Gage says this about the importance of the core values….you need all the cores, not just the ones you like. “It also takes a substantial investment in you. But you will discover that people who commit to going core reach dramatically higher levels of success than those who don’t. As a leader committed to empowering others, you have a responsibility to go core yourself, and create this culture throughout your organization.”
We at MLM Success Team are here to help you begin your journey into the Network Marketing world. It will be a journey you will not forget.
